About

I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Rochester.  Between 2013 and 2019 I was an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Kansas State University. During 2016-2017, I was a Faculty Fellow at the Murphy Center at Tulane University, and during Fall 2017, I was a Center for Ethics and Education grant recipient. I work in moral, social, and political philosophy, with a particular emphasis on:

  • The concept of adaptive preferences
  • Well-being and transformative experiences
  • Autonomy
  • Non-ideal theory
